Anti-Bullying
At Arawang Primary School we take bullying and its prevention very seriously.
We have the following in place to prevent bullying from occurring. When it does occur we deal with it quickly and effectively.
- An Anti-Bullying Statement (on School website), outlines our philosophical and practical approach. This includes identifying what bullying is, reporting bullying and taking a whole school approach to eradicating bullying.
- The You Can Do It Program teaches social behaviour and pathways to effective communication. A common language and approach to conflict resolution is taught so that bullying is identified as being unacceptable and unnecessary.
- Anti-bullying is taught at the beginning of each school year to all classes. Identification of bullying and dealing with bullying are rehearsed. Support networks for students are established so help can be arranged if necessary.
- The Student Management Policy at the school is effective in that systems are in place to ensure that every incidence of bullying is followed up and dealt with.
- Restorative Practices Training for teachers and executive staff have taken place, and procedures are in place to use this approach. Relationships are restored and incidents dealt with quickly and fairly.
All community members are encouraged to remain vigilant about bullying, and to contact the school immediately when concerns arise.
See under policy for detailed framework about bullying.
